How to Import Into a Custom Post Type with Feed to Post

There are times when you will want to import content into a custom post type.

You might want to do this to use a post type provided by your theme or one you set up for yourself. Whatever the reason, Feed to Post makes this possible with one setting.

Here is how you can do this:

  1. When adding or editing a feed source, go to the Feed to Post - General meta box.
  2. From there, find the Post Type option.
  3. Set this to the custom post type of your choice.
  4. Save or Update the feed source.

From now on, the posts for that source will be imported into the selected custom post type. This allows you, as the site administrator, to display the imported content as you wish for that custom post type.

NOTE: The post types listed in the Post Type drop-down are the ones available on your WordPress site. Feed to Post will fetch and list all provided custom post types, even if they are generated by third-party plugins or your theme.

How  to Apply This To All Feed Sources

If you are only just setting up your site with WP RSS Aggregator and you want the above to be the way every source works, then you can use the general Feed to Post  settings.

  1. Go to RSS Aggregator > Settings.
  2. Click on the Feed to Post tab.
  3. From there, find the Post Type option.
  4. Set this to the custom post type of your choice.
  5. Save the settings.

Once this is done, all new feed sources will be created with the above already in place. So the source would be pre-set to import all posts into the selected custom post type. Of course, as we did above, you can change individual sources or all sources to import posts into any other custom post type.
